STORYTELLER APPEARING AT CORNER HOUSE

Debra
Ballou, an expert in scientific
exploration and a natural storyteller,
weaves tales at the Corner House Inn in
Center Sandwich. Ms. Ballou performs in the
Corner House’s Thursday Storytelling
Dinner program currently in its 19th
season, running Thursday evenings late
October through May.
As a young girl, Debra spent weekends on
her grandparents’ farm listening to the
stories her grandmother told. Now, years
later, Debra loves to share stories that
entertain and teach about the natural
and cultural history of New Hampshire
and the world. Some stories include
musical instruments or singing, several
invite audience participation, while
others are just fun to hear. A
professional storyteller since 1995, she
tells stories for all ages in
classrooms, nature centers, libraries,
teacher workshops, and university
elderhostel programs, and special
events. Debra also performs at South
Church Coffee House in Portsmouth, NH;
The Screening Room in Newburyport, MA;
Brother Blue’s “Open Mike Night” in
Cambridge, MA; and at special events
like Telebration in Portsmouth, NH.
A member of LANES (League for the
Advancement of New England Storytelling)
since 1998, she currently serves on
their Board of Directors.
Debra Ballou“…..mesmerizes….with her
Native American flute and her
nature-oriented stories,” writes the

Debra draws from her vast experience of
twenty years of
educating people of all ages about the
sea and other aspects of the natural
world. Debra’s talents have led her to
teach for the University of New
Hampshire Sea Grant Marine Docent
Program, Seacoast Science Center, and
Sandy Point Discovery Center, where she
encouraged others to explore the natural
world and its influence on their
cultural heritage. As a naturalist and
an educator she uses her storytelling
and her great love of science together
for all to enjoy.
The Thursday Storytelling Dinner begins
at 6:30 pm. The cost is $16.95 per
