Seacoast Storyteller Brings the Spirit of the Season to the Corner House
Debra Ballou, storyteller, writer, educator, and fellow wanderer of the trails of life, returns to the Corner House Inn on Thursday,
March 7th.
For over 15 years Debra has been telling stories to audiences of all ages incorporating folktales, fairy tales, original stories, personal adventures, and poems. Many times using musical instruments, singing, and/or audience participation to enhance the experience. She performs in the expected venues such as schools, libraries, nature centers, festivals, Elderhostel programs, children’s camps, etc. and the more unexpected places like a car dealership waiting room, the deck of a ship, and a workshop on small business finance. Her recent journeys have kept her closer to home performing a variety of stories for Read across America programs for schools and libraries in New Hampshire including excerpts from Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.
Debra encourages others to explore the natural world and its influence on their cultural heritage by combining her background in science, a B.A. in biology and a M.S. in environmental education with storytelling when she conducts workshops around the New England area. As a member of LANES (League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling), she served for three years on the Board of Trustees including one year as President. Currently she serves as the contact person and facilitator for the Seacoast Storytellers Circle which is one of five Story Guilds in New Hampshire. No matter where Debra Ballou travels she brings from the mountains to the sea, Tales from the Heart.
Thursday Storytelling Dinners
are held each week at the Corner
House Inn in Center Sandwich
from late October through May.
Dinner begins at 6:30 pm and
includes salad, entrée, dessert,
coffee and glass of wine, along
with great storytelling
entertainment. The cost is
$19.95 per person, plus tax &
