STORYTELLING DINNER
Acclaimed N.E.
Storyteller appears at Corner House Inn
Renowned
storyteller-comedienne Jackson Gillman,
known as the “Stand-Up Chameleon”
appears at
the Corner House Inn’s Thursday
Storytelling Dinner in Center Sandwich.
Jackson has been performing before live
audiences for the past 29 years. Most of
that time, he was based on Maine’s Mt.
Desert Island but now makes his home in
Onset, Massachusetts. Jackson is a
perennial favorite at the Corner House,
returning each time with new material.
This visit will include a NH premiere of
“Fowl Play”, a barnyard murder mystery.
Jackson is very adept at getting
audience members to participate, without
embarrassing them!
The Christian Science Monitor calls
Gillman a “masterly storyteller” able to
“carve out entire street scenes and
crowds with single gestures and the
fewest of words.” But Gillman is not a
storyteller in the traditional sense. He
uses mime, dance, song, dialect and even
sign language to create an intimate
style of theater. His performance roots
are in cabaret, but Jackson has made a
name for himself in the storytelling
world and was a Teller-In-Residence at
the International Storytelling Center
this past summer.
The energetic Gillman has brought his
craft to a wide range of audiences
throughout New England: nightclubs,
synagogues, prisons, festivals, school
commencements, and banquets for
professional groups. For two weeks each
year he is also Rudyard-in-Residence at
Kipling’s historic Vermont home.
Says Gillman: “I like the idea of
getting older and having this wealth of
stories. I imagine myself an old man
with thousands of stories, a story for
every occasion.”
The evening promises to be very lively
and fun, spiced up with interactive
music and comedy. The storytelling
dinner begins at 6:30 pm and the cost is
$16.95 per person, plus tax and
gratuity. For further information and
reservations contact the Corner House
Inn in Center Sandwich at 603-284-6219 or
