On Thursday evening, March 8th prize-winning local author, teacher, storyteller, and folklorist Bonnie Marshall will appear at the Corner House Inn’s Storytelling Dinner. A native of New Hampshire, Bonnie received her education from Boston University, Assumption College, and the University of North Carolina, as well as from institutions of higher learning in Russia.
Dr. Marshall specializes in topics pertaining to Russian, Arctic, Balkan, and Armenian cultures. New Hampshire folktales are in her repertoire, too. She has done extensive fieldwork in Russia, collecting songs and anecdotes there. Recently, she has been working on a novel based on her experiences in the Soviet Union.
On her March 8
th visit, Bonnie plans to include a story or two featuring women heroines, in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
