Press Release - Debra Ballou

Thursday November 30 Storytelling Dinner

Seacoast Naturalist Weaves Tales at the Corner House

New Hampshire native Debra Ballou, Coordinator of Seacoast Storytellers, returns to the Corner House Inn’s Storytelling Dinner Program on Thursday, November 30 with her “Stories by the Fire”. This collection of stories includes offerings from folktales, personal adventures, and Native American traditions. Come hear about the Great Pumpkin Thieves, why Debra is “for the birds”, how a Halloween prank went awry, and Debra’s connection with UFOs one dark night, along with other stories.
For over twenty years Debra has entertained audiences of all ages in schools, libraries, nature centers, on radio and Public Access TV, along with many other venues. The 2012 recipient of the prestigious NH Storytelling Alliance “Gateways” Award, she shares cultural and natural history stories that open your imagination to the wonders of the world through emotional moments of laughter, tenderness, or tears. Some tales include musical instruments, some singing, or even audience participation.
As a storyteller, writer, and non-formal environmental educator, Debra combines her background in biological science and environmental education with storytelling when she conducts workshops around the New England area. Her Eco teller adventures shape her programs as she continuously looks for the story of nature and nature in story. From the mountains to the sea, “Tales from the Heart” is what Debra brings for all to enjoy.

Storytelling Dinners are held each Thursday evening at the Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich from late October through May. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm and includes salad, entrée, dessert, coffee and glass of wine, along with great storytelling entertainment. The cost is $22.95 per person, plus tax & gratuity. For more information or reservations contact the Corner House Inn at 284-6219 or online at
